 1. Hog's Back / Champagne Path

Our outing begins at Hog’s Back parking lot. We will cycle along the Rideau River for several kilometres, cross the pedestrian bridge near Strathcona Park, wind our way to the canal, cross the Corktown Footbridge to the NAC. After a short break we cycle back along the canal, around Dows Lake and back to our starting point at Hog’s Back. Distance: 25 km.

2. Rockcliffe / Blackburn Hamlet

We begin this week’s ride at NCC Parking Lot #2, near the Rockcliffe Park Pavilion. We will travel in an easterly direction on bike paths along the Ottawa River, over the Queensway and across St. Joseph Boulevard, towards Hornets’Nest Soccer Park. We will then ride along paths and streets in Blackburn Hamlet before returning along the Ottawa River. Total distance is 32 km.

3. Tulip Run: Rockcliffe Park / Dows Lake

Our outing begins at Rockcliffe Park. We cycle along Sussex street, down to the canal, cross, and follow the canal to Dows Lake. This is our “Tulip Run”. We will stop at the park near Dows Lake to check out the tulips, take photos, etc. We continue along the canal to Hog’s Back, then along the Rideau back to Rockcliffe Park.

4. Nepean Sportsplex / Bruce Pit / Pinhey's Forest

This ride will begin at the Nepean Sportsplex which is at the SE corner of Woodroffe and Hunt Club. The entrances are on the east side of Woodroffe just south of Hunt Club. Please arrive at 09:45 for a 10:00 start. Please park near the woods at the back of the lot.The ride is essentially a figure eight going west to Bruce Pit, back to the Sportsplex, south through Pinheys woods and back to the start. The distance is 27km. Lots of wooded area. Time approx. 2 hours 10 minutes. Washrooms at the Sportsplex (start, midpoint and end).

5. Britannia Beach / Experimental Farm

Our ride begins at the Britannia parking lot, at the bottom of the hill just across from the tennis club. This excursion will follow Pinecrest Creek and the Experimental Farm pathway to the Farm, then around Dows Lake, along the canal to the foot of the locks by the Chateau, and then back along the Ottawa River Parkway to Britannia Beach. Distance: 34

MODIFIED: The route this time started at Bate Island, proceeded east along the parkway to the exit for the O Train. We followed the bike route down to Dow's lake then headed south on Prince of Wales to the traffic circle. From there, we entered the Arboretum to the lookout, then around on the Arboretum road back to the rotunda. We biked west throughout the Experimental Farm along Cow lane. Crossing Fisher we followed the bike path across Maitland and then Woodfroffe. We headed north on the pathway via the Pinecrest creek to the river, then east back along the river to Bate island. Distance: 25 km.

6. Rockcliffe Parkway / Petrie Island

We meet on the Rockcliffe Parkway at Parking Lot P5, which is just west of the Museum of Aviation, and will ride east to Petrie Island and back. Total distance is 36 km, with some portions on gravel along the Ottawa River.

7. Britannia Beach / Shirley's Bay

We meet at Britannia Beach parking lot, go west along the Ottawa River to Carling, past Andy Hayden park, into Crystal Beach area, west along Carling, north to Shirley’s Bay, south along Rifle Road, Watts Creek path, through the woods to Corkstown Rd, west to Watts Creek bike path, easterly crossing Moodie, Holly Acres and Carling back to Britannia Beach. Distance: 28.3 km

8. Blackburn Hamlet / Navan

From the Blackburn Arena, 200 Glen Park Drive, in Blackburn Hamlet, we ride west to Anderson Road and to the Prescott-Russell Rail Trail. We will travel east along the trail to Trim Road, up Trim to Brian Coburn (about 5k), along Brian Coburn to Mer Bleu and down to Innes. After a very short ride on Innes, we will travel through the neighbourhoods and connecting parkways back to Blackburn Hamlet and return to the arena. The trip is approximately 34 km.

MODIFIED: We started at Green's Greek Hornets' Nest soccer fields.

From the Ashton Pub, we take the 9th line to the Trans Canada Bike Trail, Carleton Place, to Mississippi Riverwalk Trail, go to Appleton, back on the Trans Canada Bike Trail to Ashton. Distance: 30 km

10. Britannia Beach / Bells Corners

We meet at the Britannia Beach parking lot at 09:30 for a 09:45 start. We will proceed west along Watts Creek pathway, then south under the 417, east through Bells Corners to the Nepean Sportsplex and Pinheys Forest and back past the Queensway Carleton to the start. There will be a fair amount of wooded area. Distance, about 35 km.

11. Mill Street / Lac Leamy

From the Mill Street Brew Pub we head northeast across the Portage Bridge, turn right toward the Route Verte 1/Voyageurs Pathway, to the Aberdeen Bridge, and take the Sentier de la Rivière-Gatineau, and continue to Lac Leamy. Past the Casino Complex, we follow the Sentier du Ruisseau-de-la-Brasserie, going along Montcalm. We then turn right into the parking lot to get onto the bike path and proceed across Alexandre-Taché Boulevard, and head west on the Voyageurs Pathway to Moussette Park. We continue west on the Voyageurs Pathway past the Champlain Bridge about 6 km to the Deschênes Rapids, then double back, cross the Champlain Bridge, and head east on the Ottawa River Pathway back to the Mill Street Brew Pub. Distance: 34 km.

We will head east on Old Montreal Road for 1.2  km turning right on to Beckett’s Creek Rd. for 1.5 km then at the stop we will turn right on to Willhaven Dr. for 7 kms until we reach O’Toole Road. We then head south (left turn) and proceed 4.6 km stopping at the Proulx Berry Farm. We continue south and link up with French Hill Road which takes us east (left turn) to link up with Sarsfield Road. At this point we can decide on a 27 km. outing or proceed to Sarsfield and return for a 36 km. ride. We then will take Sarsfield Rd. until it meets Willhaven Dr. heading east to retrace our path along Beckett’s Creek Road then west on Old Montreal Road to our starting point.

Our outing for this week is on Tuesday morning, and we will ride with the Montreal Carravelo group.We meet at 100 Waters St. in Cornwall at the municipal recreation center by the river. The ride is 38 k on bicycle paths along the river to Long Sault.

14. Bate Island / Aylmer

From Bate Island, we cross to Gatineau and proceed south-west along the Voyageur Pathway to Rivermead and up to McConnel, then west to Vanier, and north to join the Pionniers Pathway going west along Boulevard des Allumettières. At the end of the boulevard, we loop back and, after a short detour along rue Principale, go south on Frank Robinson to rejoin the pathway along the river and return to Bate Island. Total distance is 32 km.

15. Russell / Embrun

This Wednesday's bike ride is in the Russell/Embrun area, starting at the Russell Fairgrounds near the arena.We will travel partly on country roads and partly in the villages of Russell and Embrun. We expect to cross the Castor River at least four times and will travel on the New York Central Trail. Almost all roads and paths we will be on are paved, although some of the paved portions are somewhat rough. Total distance is 27 km.

We assemble at the parking lot adjacent to the Sterling Steak House in Gatineau. We will cycle along the newly refurbished Jacques Cartier waterfront and proceed east to Templeton Marsh. No hills; mostly dedicated bike paths (Route Verte). Distance: 27.1 km

17. Lachine / Old Montreal

We begin in LaSalle at the foot of Bishop Power Blvd., cycle to the Ice Bridge on Nuns Island, over to the South Shore, east to Ile Notre-Dame, then onto Île Ste-Hélène, where we'll stop for lunch. We then cross the Concord Bridge into the city, heading east to the Old Port. We cycle back along the Lachine Canal to Atwater, then through the Verdun-LaSalle area and back to our starting point. Total distance is 40 km.

18. Hog's Back / Lac Leamy

Proceed on Rideau River Eastern Pathway to Sussex Drive, cross Sussex to Rideau Falls Park for a short stop, proceed over bridge, behind National Research Council to enter the bike path across MacDonald-Cartier Bridge. We then turn right into Jacques-Cartier Park ( near Maison du Velo, follow Voyageurs Pathway to Lac Leamy, proceed  around Lac Leamy to Sentier du Ruisseau-de-la-Brasserie, arrive at Tache Blvd and Montcalm and turn left on bike trail to Portage Bridge.We go under the bridge to enter the bike path across same.We proceed west on Ottawa River Pathway to Champagne Path to Dow's Lake, follow trail to Carleton University on west side of Rideau Canal, cross at Carleton and proceed to Hog's Back.

‪From Cedarhill Golf Course, we go on Cedarview Road to LytlePark, Greenbank, Hunt Club, Nepean Sportsplex, Fallowfield, Barrhaven Crossing, Berrigan, Greenbank, along the bike path back to Cedarhill. Distance: 36.8 km

20. Bate Island / Lac Leamy / Gatineau

From Bate Island, this excursion will follow the Voyageur pathway on the Gatineau side past the Museum of Civilization to Lac Leamy. We will circle Lac-Leamy and come down the Ruisseau-de-la-Brasserie path and return on the Ottawa side to Bate. Highlights will include the possibility of a stop at the BDT, a look at the Chaudière Falls and a trip along the Champagne cycle path linking the Western Parkway and Carling Avenue/Dows Lake. Total distance will be 28.5 km.

21. Perrault Winery (Navan) / Bourget

From Perrault vineyard in Navan, we proceed to the bicycle path on the old train track, to Sarsfield (10 km), then south on Sarsfield road to Bearbrook (7.1 km) and then onto Devine road via Dunning road.    Travelling west on Devine we will go to Vars (5.4 km), then north via Frank Kenny road to McFadden road where we will travel west back to the vineyard (11.1 km). Total distance is 34 km.

22. Centrepointe / Black Rapids

Our bike ride this week will start on the western edge of Centrepointe Park. We will bike south to HuntClub, past the Nepean Sportsplex and south on Woodroffe. At the Via train tracks we will turn east and follow the path along Black Rapids Creek to the Rideau River. We will return on Fallowfield to Greenbank and back to Centrepointe Park. Total distance: 30km
